Why teak (and why Grade-A specifically)
Teak's natural oils repel water without any coating — it's the wood ships were built from. But only Grade-A heartwood carries those oils in quantity. Budget benches made of young sapwood or laminated bamboo swell, crack and grey within seasons — especially with Canadian humidity swings. Grade-A teak just ages golden and can be sanded back to new.
